  Hot of the heels of Third Try’s acclaimed first release with Swedish producer Axel Boman at the helm, the Parisian record label is back with a second release, this time the debut EP from homegrown talent S. Channel.
  
  A1 Tortoise
  EP opener Tortoise starts with lush pads, with chords gently phasing amidst surface noise of the vinyl crackle variety. But this is no ambient cut, as a stripped down but warm and engaging beat makes an appearance, along with melodic samples and other elements. Everything is bound together with a certain blur, a kind of soft focus that is an inherent part of S. Channel’s signature.
  
  A2 Costa Croisière
  With an irresistibly plodding groove and arrangements tailored for maximum crowd impact, this is track manages to be a bona fide banger that ticks all the right boxes for arms in the air and smiles on the dancefloor all the while displaying more of S. Channel’s finesse and attention to detail. Perfect for but absolutely not limited to DJs who are looking for appropriate tunes to play on a yacht.
  
  A3 Jampire Veekend
  This is a track more on the experimental side where emotional drones and heartfelt pads mingle with a broken beat and hard hitting percussion that contrasts with the fragile melodies. Like clouds hiding and revealing the sun, S. Channel manages to install different moods by playing with elements and arrangements during the span of the track’s duration.
  
  B1 Voyage
  The French title of this tune roughly translates to “a trip on the tip of the far end of the edge of the world”. At this point it’s almost a given that S. Channel is going to supply some dreamy vibes in this track but he ups the ante by programming an infectious syncopated drum beat and layers of droning pads. As abstract as it is majestic, this is not just a track for the mind, it’s also quite effective on the body.
  
  B2 Eva’s groove
  Another cut more on the experimental side but that doesn’t forget it’s made for the dance floor first and foremost. After an almost cinematic intro, haunting drones and ghostly piano notes are structured by a simple, efficient beat. Halfway through the track, you’re in for a surprise. A bass groove reminiscent of 90s hip hop makes an appearance, along with just the right drum sounds to get the whole dancefloor moving.
  
  B3 Little Runt Dreamer part III
  This is an atmospheric track that nonetheless isn’t shy on the low-end. LFO filtered pads, a melodic lead with Eastern connotations create a floaty, euphoric effect that seal the deal : S Channel’s debut EP is a perfect introduction to the producer’s sound as well as his sensitivity and it is a great prelude of things to come.
